CODE and ADEA
CODE – (Consortium of Operative Dentistry Educators)
The Academy of Operative Dentistry and the Consortium of Operative Dentistry Educators have much in common as one of the goals of AOD is to advance and improve the teaching of operative dentistry. As such, it seems only natural that the AOD website has a link to the CODE website as CODE does to the AOD website.
CODE is an acronym for the Consortium of Operative Dentistry Educators. The United States and Canada are divided into six regions and all dental schools are invited to be members and participate in the Regional and National CODE meetings. The National Director of CODE is appointed by the American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) Executive Council of the Section on Operative Dentistry and Biomaterials.
Annually, each region holds a meeting hosted by one of the region’s dental schools. During these meetings, each school’s CODE representatives discuss topics of interest or concern to operative educators. The agenda includes a core of questions that the Advisory Committee and the National Director establish. Following the Regional Meetings, the responses to these questions are compiled and published in book form in the “Annual National Report: Regions I-VI”. The Report is mailed to all member schools and is also available for viewing on CODE’s website: http://www.operativedentistryeducators.com. For members of CODE who are present at the Academy of Operative Dentistry’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, time is set aside for CODE’s Annual National Meeting as part of the Daily Program.
Additional information regarding CODE is available on the CODE website but should you have any questions, Dr. Gary L. Stafford, the National Director, may be contacted at: staffoga@ohsu.edu or at 414.288.5409.
