The Academy of Operative Dentistry obtains information from its members and guests for the annual member dues and for registration at the Academys annual scientific sessions and AGM. This information may be expanded or updated as we change or develop our site. For this reason, we recommend that you review this policy from time-to-time to see if anything has changed.
Member and guest entered information is accessible only by Academy managers, our accountants, Secretary-Treasurer and Webmaster. The information is stored on a non-public, secured site. Members can access Members-only areas of the site using their personal login and password codes.
Personally identifiable information refers to information that tells us specifically who a member is, such as name, phone number, e-mail or postal address. In most cases, this information is of benefit, or even essential, for the Academy to provide the services that you request, and includes information such as a history of membership dues payments and meeting registration. A member can view, update and control the privacy of all of their own personal and contact information using our Member Profile Manager, and may only view other members contact information if the other members have designated their own privacy settings so as to be accessible to other members.
The amount of personally identifiable information that a member chooses to disclose to the Academy is completely up to the member. The minimum information required to maintain membership is a member's first name, last name and valid email address. Members wishing to resign membership may request their personal information be completely deleted from our membership records.
The public has access to some of the members' information only through the public "Find A Dentist" search page. and then only if appropriate permissions are specifically granted by each member using the privacy settings in their Profile Manager. The default search parameters are set so that only Office addresses, phone numbers and emails are available for viewing on public access pages, but even those records must have each of their privacy settings specifically adjusted by the member to be designated as public information.
The Academy does not sell or give your personal information to third parties. When the Academy uses other companies to provide services for us, the Academy requires them to protect the confidentially of the personal information they receive.
Please note: Electronic transmission of credit card and contact information for membership dues payments are handled by a secure third party e-commerce transaction provider (Stripe) and are not stored at any time within the Academy's web site, web servers or in other files.
We also collect, store and accumulate certain non-personally identifiable information concerning your use of this website, such as: which of our pages and services are of most interest to our members, prospective members, and the public. The information the Academy collects is used in a variety of ways: for internal review; to improve the content of the site, thus making your user experience more valuable.
