This program will present the history and current science behind dentin adhesives, bonding systems and cementation. The lecture will compare the current etching techniques and distinguish the risks and benefits of each. The presentation will present a systematic approach to evaluating the different generations of dentin adhesives, and compare the clinical and research data of each. This lecture will clarify how to decrease post-operative sensitivity and increase success of your adhesive dentistry.

"Does age cause tooth wear?"

This lecture will examine the literature to see if increasing age is associated with an increase in severity of tooth wear. I will share my clinical experience to assess if they are related and explain how we can measure tooth wear and the lab. After the lecture the following objectives will be covered
- An overview of prevalence studies and systematic reviews on tooth wear
- Show, with clinical examples, my personal experience of how they may be related
- Describe how we might measure progression in the future in our dental offices
"Optimization of Single-Unit Implant Therapy Leveraging Digital Technologies"
This presentation will provide an overview on multidisciplinary digital workflows for single-tooth replacement via implant therapy. Guidelines pertaining to proper case selection and treatment planning, including surgical and restorative considerations, will be reviewed with an emphasis on relevant scientific evidence and its application in clinical practice to optimize treatment outcomes. Clinical examples will be presented to illustrate different concepts, technical tips, and emerging trends in the context of tooth replacement therapy with dental implants.

"Cracking the Cracked Teeth Code Utilizing CBCT Imaging: A New Perspectives on Diagnosis, CBCT Imaging, Treatment Strategies, and Outcomes"

A lack of consensus exists among dentists and endodontists in cracked teeth. Accurate clinical evaluation, imaging and diagnosis is paramount to properly treatment planning cracked teeth. With the resurgence of the philosophy of saving compromised teeth over extraction, and our patients’ desire to save their teeth, the question remains: “Which cracked teeth should be treated and which cracked teeth should be extracted?” Applying the current understanding of the ultrastructure of teeth in conjunction with modern diagnostic technologies, materials, adhesive techniques, and restorative approaches, dentists can now use minimally invasive biomimetic techniques to provide restorations that come close to functionally and biomechanically mimicking the original, healthy state of a tooth. This presentation will focus on how CBCT technology and a new imaging software e-VOLDX has provided clinicians with a different understanding of the dynamics of dental disease as well as healing. Based on the information provided from CBCT volumes, changes in treatment protocols and armamentarium will be presented.
This evidence-based presentation will address the classification and diagnosis of different types of cracks and the role of CBCT imaging in these cases, as well as the prognosis and changes in treatment protocols and outcomes of cracked teeth.

"Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Therapy (SFOT): An Interdisciplinary Approach"
Patients that want more ideal facial esthetics and function, may choose to have the interdisciplinary team utilize SFOT to alter the dentoalveolar bone and optimally position the roots of the teeth for the patients’ face. Space may be appropriated to enable the restorative dentist to create natural tooth dimensions and morphology in the worn, eroded or otherwise altered dentition. Surgical, orthodontic and restorative perspectives will be presented to challenge the team to move beyond traditional interdisciplinary therapies into a new frontier for enhanced outcomes.
- To appreciate dentoalveolar bone phenotypes and to limit associated risks using SFOT
- To review diagnostic findings and imaging modalities critical to treatment planning of the interdisciplinary patient
- To present the biology, risks/benefits and execution of SFOT in advanced interdisciplinary cases from a surgical, orthodontic, and restorative perspective
- To discuss SFOT to optimize the position of teeth for facial esthetics and function in the skeletally mature patient with “grey zone” malocclusions
- To demonstrate the role of SFOT in decompensating different dentofacial disharmony skeletal malocclusion patterns.

This Inaugural Cariology lecture will provide an overview of the principles of modern caries management and the challenges presented by this complex disease. Risk-based diagnosis, prevention, and tooth and pulp preservation, the heart and soul of operative dentistry, will be reviewed, with emphasis given to an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach in caries disease management.
Participants will be able to:
- Recognize and manage caries as a disease
- Understand the new caries classification system.
- Apply evidence-based risk related principles to an everyday clinical practice
- Apply the clinical principles of minimally invasive dentistry to maintain pulp vitality and preserve tooth structure.
